An Evening With Silk Sonic

An Evening With Silk Sonic

An Evening With Silk Sonic is a beautifully put-together Sonic masterpiece.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Usually, we wait till the end of the year to review our favorite content from the past year but this album right here needs all its flowers Asap!

An Evening With Silk Sonic is a beautifully put-together Sonic masterpiece. Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak take us on a smooth sonic journey from start to finish hence the name silk sonic. A blast from the past that reminds people exactly what is missing in music today, soul. Not saying that today’s music doesn’t have soul but it’s definitely lacking in substance & musicality. Everything is either slowed down or over 808 drums that drown out any type of other instruments.

Don’t get me wrong we love that type of music, we make that type of music but this silk sonic album was a breath of fresh air.

Since they were heavily inspired by the music of the 70s some critics are already saying that the music of the 70s is better, they just copied that sound, if I want to listen to 70s music I’ll just go back and listen to that. That is all true but this new generation hasn’t heard any of that and that’s why we should all embrace this album as a reintroduction to that beautiful music.

This album is opening the door (no pun intended) for kids who grew up in the late 2000s that maybe never heard a Barry white song, Marvin Gaye, Motown, Stevie Wonder, The Whispers, Shalamar, Evelyn Champagne, Sly and the Family Stone, Prince, Michael Jackson or a Bootsy Collins record and only know Drake, Future, 21 Savage, NBA Youngboy, etc. With all the hype Silk Sonic is generating maybe it might inspire a kid to expand their musical palette, go back, and re-discover some of those classic Artists and songs. It’s cool to like old-school shit and you can also learn what made the legends legendary and apply it to your craft.

But enough of that let’s get into this album.

First of all the musicality on this album is A1 everything is hitting how it’s supposed to. I was listening to Marvin Gaye’s I Want You Album and one of the things I loved about the album were how the instruments were panned. Mono drums, synths on the left, and everything else on the right with the vocals powering over. It wasn’t too loud either everything was mixed perfectly, it made for a real 360-degree listening experience.

I like that the Silk Sonic album sounds like a jam session from that era, only the voices, and the instruments that's it. Anderson Paak voice blends perfectly with Bruno Mars, it’s a true testament to the genius of both artists. On songs like Fly as Me, 777 & Blast Off you can hear how each artist compliments each other style and enhance their strongest skills. Even the singles Leave The Door Open, Skate & Smoking Out The Window sound like brand new records.

With that jam session style, the album doesn’t sound too overly mixed or tweaked. I’m happy that Anderson Paak is finally getting the flowers and recognition he deserves for being a master at his craft. Bruno Mars is stellar as usual that note he holds on “Put A Smile” ðŸ”¥ðŸ”¥ðŸ”¥ðŸ”¥. I don’t know much about notes and musical arrangements but I’m pretty sure they got it right! Ha All I know is that this album will change the landscape of music, it might even reset it. I hope it does because we need this type of feel-good soul music back in society especially with what’s going on in the world today. We need that groove back, Thank you Silk Sonic this album already went Diamond 💎
