The Lakers are the 2020 NBA World Champions! damn it feels good to say that. After what has been nothing less than a tumultuous year not just for the Lakers but the world in general. First with the loss of the greatest Laker of all-time Kobe Bryant to the coronavirus pandemic putting a halt to the season to civil & social injustices that led to the players boycotting the playoffs. Having to navigate through those circumstances and levels of uncertainty have made that championship run much more meaningful.

Through all the ups & downs the Lakers managed to stay dominant from start to finish. Congratulations to the Miami Heat & special shoutout to Jimmy Butler who turned what was suppose to be an easy sweep for the Lakers to a very interesting series. He had one legendary series and willed his team to two wins. He left it all out on the floor and for that, he gained not just ours but the world’s ultimate respect.

This championship as many predicted wasn’t a forgone conclusion even after the acquisition of superstar forward Anthony Davis. Many pundits picked against Lebron, AD & the Lakers. Although many teams were favorited the Lakers were the last team standing. It feels extra good to prove all the doubter wrong. As Lebron James stated in the post game interview “We just want our damn respect”

Laker nation we got it! The Lakers had not won a championship in 10 years, since the late great Kobe did it back in 2010, this championship right here is bittersweet because we wish he and his daughter Gigi were here to see this happen. Like he once said we don’t hang division banners so here’s to you BEAN another championship banner is going up in Staples, hope they made you proud.
